Turning Pointe was founded by Donna Dempsey in 1996. Originally called The Dance Centre it changed its name in 2005 to Turning Pointe to reflect the fact that it has many, many studios throughout the UAE not just one centre. Donna also felt it is a turning point in a childs life when they start school which is often the same year they start their dance classes.

As a dance school, Turning Pointe offers a wide choice of classes to suit all kinds of students.

The most popular genre is Classical Ballet, following The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Syllabus and gearing the students towards their RAD ballet examinations. These classes are offered to 3years and above.  Over the years the number and ability of the ballet students increased enormously and in 2010 Turning Pointe Youth Ballet (TPYB) was established.  The Youth Ballet performs a full length ballet in February of each year with rehearsals and auditions starting in October. TPYB is open to all our students from Grade 1 ballet and above.

Hip Hop, Modern, Street Jazz, Jazz2Pop and Glee Club are the other genres of dance Turning Pointe offers. These classes start at 3 years old with our little Baby Boppers right up to 18years

Turning Pointe welcomes both the student who works towards a professional career in dance as well as those who dance purely for the joy of it and the benefits it brings to everyday life. The training the students receive at Turning Pointe produces self confident and educated dancers, by focusing on their individual development.
