Donna Dempsey - Principal

donna Donna Dempsey, trained at the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) in London. After passing her R.A.D. Teaching Certificate, she went on to attain the R.A.D. Teaching Diploma. Donna has broad international teaching experience, commencing her teaching career in the U.K. then moving to Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand and Indonesia prior to opening The Dance Centre Dubai in 1996 later changing the name of the school to Turning Pointe.

Yuni Miyamae - Dance Teacher

yuni_miyamae Yuni Miyamae trained in the Cecchietti technique in Tokyo, Japan then moved to the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), headquarters in London, where she graduated with The RAD Teaching Diploma. After graduating, Yuni returned to Japan to dance and teach for the Noriko Kobayashi Ballet Company, which is also the headquarters for the RAD in Japan. Before moving to Dubai, Yuni lived in New York continuing her professional training with several high profile international teachers, including David Howard. Sadly Yuni will be leaving us in October 2009 to return to her Native Japan where she will continue her teaching career.

Emma Drewett - Dance Teacher

Emma Drewett, trained at the Christine Burtt School of Dance and the Margaret Howard Organisation where she was awarded her teaching Diploma with Distinction in ISTD Ballet, Tap, Modern, National and Jazz . Since graduating in 2001, Emma has assisted in setting up a dance school in Sofia, Bulgaira. She has also taught in numerous schools in the London area, choreographing for shows and demonstrations, and preparing and entering students for examinations.

In 2002, Emma undertook the RAD degree in Dance Education, and was awarded her RAD registered teacher status in 2004. Emma graduated with BA Hons in 2008.

Lara Glew - Dance Teacher

Lara Glew, was just 3 years old when she started dancing. She was offered a place at The Royal Ballet School when she was 8 and left the school eight years later as Head Girl. During this time she performed frequently with The Royal Ballet at Covent Garden. She was selected to represent Great Britain at the Grand Prix Eurovision Pour Jeunes Danseuses when she was 18, prior to working as a soloist, choreographer and teacher at Theater Lüneburg, Germany. She played the role of Meg Giry in four productions of The Phantom of the Opera, across Europe and danced five different roles in the two and a half year long production of Cats in Germany and Switzerland.

Lara received her teaching Diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance in 2006. Before joining Turning Pointe in September 2008 she taught children and adults a variety of dance styles in Berlin.

Aindrea Long - Dance Teacher

aindrea_long Aindrea Long, trained at the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) in London from 2003-2007. During her time at the Academy Aindrea completed the BA (Hons) in Ballet Education course as well as being awarded an Associate and a Licentiate of the RAD. Whilst at the Academy Aindrea’s work led her to coaching dancers at the prestigious Central School of Ballet as well as rehearsing dancers for the Royal Ballets ‘Chance to Dance’. Since graduation Aindrea returned to Ireland as Principal Ballet instructor under Donna Daly Blyth her work there included coaching, choreographing and rehearsing the ballet sector for the school. Aindrea joined the teaching team at Turning Pointe in September 2008.

Elizabeth Johnson - Dance Teacher

elizabeth Elizabeth Johnson, is known as Miss Libby. Libby underwent fulltime teacher training in Musical Theatre and Dance at the Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre graduating with Distinction, she is also qualified to teach the LAMDA Drama Awards. After graduating from college Libby taught at the Hamilton School of Dance and the Merseyside School of Dance and Drama in Liverpool, she joined the teaching team at Turning Pointe in January 2009.

Carmen Lowson - Dance Teacher

carmen_lowson Carmen Lowson, Carmen was trained by Turning Pointe in Dubai attaining her professional ballet exams which enabled her to gain a place at Edinburgh College of Dance. After graduating from College in July 2008 Carmen returned to Turning Pointe as a trainee teacher doing her CBTS (Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies) through the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance). Besides teaching ballet Carmen also teaches very popular Hip Hop classes.

Helen Ainsworth - Dance Teacher

helen Helen Ainsworth, trained with Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance which led to a career as a professional dancer in Londons West End and as a Principal Dancer in Matthew Bournes Swan Lake and Nutcracker. Helen undertook her teacher training through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Professional Dancers Teaching Diploma and joined the teaching team of Turning Pointe in September 2009
